Hi! I'm Zara
I love coffee, corgis, and candid moments
I specialise in naturally lit, documentary-style portraiture, with a focus on capturing the honest, in-between moments - quiet glances, soft chaos, the laughter that slips out when you forget the camera is there. My sessions are calm, grounded, and guided with care. There’s no pressure to perform, no need to be anything other than yourself. I create space for people to settle in, breathe, and feel safe enough to be truly seen.
Being photographed can feel vulnerable and I deeply understand that. My role isn’t to orchestrate perfection - it’s to witness what’s already there. Whether it’s your wedding day, a newborn curled against your chest, or a portrait that marks a new chapter, I approach each session steadily and attentively. I’ll guide you when you need it, step back when you don’t, and hold the space with quiet confidence.
After navigating unsuccessful IVF, years of chronic illness, and late-discovered neurodivergence, I’ve come to see photography as a form of quiet witnessing. It’s a way of honouring what is, without forcing it to be something else. That perspective shapes how I work, and it’s why many of my clients are creatives, tender-hearted humans, or people who simply want to feel understood rather than managed.
Originally from Aotearoa/New Zealand, I’ve called Gadigal/Sydney home since 2013 and now live in Dhurag/Springwood in the Blue Mountains. The bush, the shifting light, and the feeling of open air all influence my work - grounded, textured, and gently nostalgic.
If you’re looking for images that feel honest, steady, and true to you - I’d love to begin a conversation.
For the soft, the strange, & the wildly tender - this is photography for the real ones.
Come as you are, I'll meet you there ✨

ZKP behind the scenes
The main support pillar behind ZKP is the love of my life, the golden retriever to my black cat, the goofiest, most loving puppy a gal could ask for - my fiancé, Luke.
Without his faith and support, ZKP just wouldn't exist. So let's celebrate him, and us, and take a moment to enjoy these absolutely breathtaking images from our engagement session by Tilly Roberts.
